The Divine Mother - Symbol of Compassion, Wisdom and Beauty
Kuan Yin or Guanyin, originally known as Avalokiteswara ("the Lord Who Beholds the World"), is a highly revered manifestation of the Buddha who appears in Chinese writings around 400 AD. Kuan Yin means "one who hears the cries of the world" and personifies the Buddha's compassion for those in need. She embodies the Yin principle. She is most often depicted as a young female deity, but can take on any form necessary to fulfill her oath - to appear in any way necessary to lead beings out of suffering.
